More like a private party (to which anyone with a smile on her or his face is invited) than a bar, this bar ranks among Manhattan's most welcoming havens, period.
5 Star Reviews:
- It's the most unique place on earth! It's mixed girl and boy friendly. The staff is always friendly and the service is always with a smile! The juke box is off the hook. The drink specials are awesome!
- So much fun! Great bar, great atmosphere. After work I go to the cubbyhole. I am usually there Tuesdays for the margaritas, the bartender is uber cool, he pours them strong and has a cool dog. I always enjoy myself.
- MONDAYS MONDAYS MONDAYS :) i go there after work with my fabulous gay guy friend to get my weekly dose of Ellen haha and Venny :) the bartenders are A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! great place awesome electronic jukebox. Great friendly crowd and if your lucky ull prolly see this funny palm reader who walks in and goes straight to the restroom and stops to offer palm readings on his way out (i wish he washes his hands)
- MONDAYS, MONDAYS, MONDAYS......! Great place to have fun, friendly bartenders, tasty mango sorbet martinis, great juke box..... GREATNESS!
- Cubbyhole is the best bar in NYC. Absolutely. The Cubbyhole is familial and friendly. A true neighborhood bar. Teeming with gay men and women, straight people, couples and singles. Every walk of life can find comfort and fun at the Cubby. The dedicated staff is always around to help out even when "off duty." The bartenders are all great, from fun loving to intellectual...
- The Cubby Hole is the answer to my prayers. Beautiful Women... The barmaiden named Lisa is hot off the griddle! If I were ordering hotcakes, I would order a large sack from this beauty! Her skin is like silk her smile is worth millions. The Cubby Hole is where to be!
- This little haven is my newest place to be! This is the best place to be on Tuesdays, Michael & Lisa are the best and He never forgets a name! I love boys, I love girls & I love the Cubby Hole!
- Fun, friendly place... great to bring your girlfriend or boyfriend and not worry about drama... Good music, great drinks....fun atmosphere... I recommend this place to everyone.

This playfully romantic little den is a lesbian/mixed hangout with the homey, lived-in lushness of a quirky aunt's house.

Description:
The Cubby Hole is really friendly and casual, and, no doubt, really fun! |

Gay boys and queer girls fill this festively decorated joint, where piñatas and Christmas lights cover the ceiling. Weekends and after-work hours can be crowded—all the better for making new friends.

Best Lesbian Bar
The first thing you’ll notice is the inordinate amount of stuff hanging like stalactites from the ceiling. A huge collection of Chinese lanterns, model airplanes, and polka-dotted fish has been amassed over the past thirteen years, and though it’s completely over-the-top, it somehow works. Inside, you’ll see a mix of (mostly) women and men—gay and straight—sipping beers and vodka cocktails and singing along to “What’s Love Got to Do With It?” on the jukebox. But that’s the thing about Cubby Hole: Since it opened in 1994, it’s garnered a reputation as not just a great lesbian bar but also a cool neighborhood bar. So, lesbian or not, you’ll undoubtedly find yourself freaking out with excitement when your song finally rolls into rotation on the jukebox.

Essentially a dressed up neighborhood spot, this adorable beach-themed hideaway in the West Village is about as relaxed and friendly as bars can get.

Staff pick: Cubby Hole
OK, so it’s not always a lesbian bar. But the girls do frequently fill this popular spot... known for its friendly staff and clientele. And yes, men are more than welcome, too.
